LLM (Second Class Honours First Division) (Auckland)
What do I do?
I work closely with Niamh McMahon providing assistance and advice in a broad range of areas including commercial and company matters. I am a great believer in communication to help navigate through issues that may be difficult or complex. I keep our clients informed at all stages of a project and provide them with practical advice to arrive at solutions that reflect their needs.
What do I enjoy about what I do?
As well as working with an amazing group of colleagues and clients, I enjoy the practice of law, which I find both exciting and rewarding. Our clients' successes are our successes as problem solvers and advisors. I also enjoy being asked whether being a lawyer really is like what you see in hit television programmes such as Suits and my all time favourite, Boston Legal. My answer is always “Yes”, if you watch these shows with rose tinted glasses, a dash of Kiwi humour and reality!
What have I done in the past?
While I was studying towards my Master’s in Commercial Law, I worked in property asset acquisition for a large Auckland Maori corporate organisation.
What am I like out of work?
Outside of work I am the Assistant Secretary of the Governance Committee for Orakei Marae, Social and Health Services Incorporated, which provides various social services to the iwi of Ngati Whatua and the community. In my spare time I play club netball in a competitive league and coach a women’s netball team. I also enjoy hiking which allows me to experience the beautiful Kiwi outdoors.
